2010 HACD Elections
In an attempt to drum up support and call HACD cardholders to action BalloonPong is featuring the upcoming annual HACD election. The HACD board consists of six regionally elected members, three at-large members (these nine members all serve three year terms), as well as a BFA board representative, Director of the National Championship, and the Chief Observer/Official. Elections are held on a rotating basis so that three seats are up to be filled each year. This year the West, Northeast, and an At-Large position were all scheduled for an election, however due to insufficient interest in both the West and Northeast regions the only election will be for the At-Large seat.
What is the HACD?
The HACD board is a segment of the BFA who all share a common interest in competitive ballooning. The board is not just limited to pilots, but takes advantage of officials, observers, and crew to help promote the advancement of competition within the BFA.
What does the HACD do?
While a complete list of responsibilities and tasks would be too exhaustive for the space we have, the main task of the HACD is to organize, staff, and host, the US National Hot Air Balloon Championship. On top of that they also facilitate the running of local, state, and regional championships to be used as qualifying events for the U.S. Nationals. Based on performance at consecutive National championships, a pilot is eligible to qualify for the World Championships. As a member of the National Aeronautical Association the HACD on behalf of the BFA submits a list of names to the NAA who in turn submits our Nation’s team for the World Championships.
When and Where do I vote?
Ballots are scheduled to be mailed July 22, 2010 and must be returned via mail by August 20,2010.
Who is running?
Richard Sabin (Henderson, TX)
Jeremy Rubin (Ankeny, IA)
Chase Donner (Atlanta, GA)

BalloonPong asks that when you receive your ballot you make sure you take action and vote by sending your response back to the BFA’s office. This is an important election and your input matters.
